Model United Nations, popularly referred to as MUN, is an academic simulation of the United Nations and its various organs. In this creative simulation, participants take up the role of international diplomats and representatives of countries in various UN bodies.
The motto of Techfest World Model United Nations is CONVERGE TO RESOLVE, and we aim to develop universally acceptable proposals to solve some of the pressing global issues including poverty, health, energy and education, conflict, wildlife and conservation, climate change, imbalanced trade among others. These resolutions will be forwarded to UN itself as youth opinion for active consideration for its own functioning & planning purposes.
Continuing the legacy of Techfest World MUN 2016, which saw a participation of over 520 delegates coming together from more than 20 countries including Czech Republic, Bangladesh, Philippnes, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Egypt and Australia among others, with 4 school and 8 college level committees and earning a total prize worth of more than 2.6 lakh INR, we are extremely enthused to invite you to the Techfest World Model United Nations 2017.

Model United Nations (also Model UN or MUN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate and encourage participants to discuss about major issues concerning the world, topics in international relations, diplomacy and the United Nations agenda.
Techfest is the annual Science and Technological Festival of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India. It is well established today as Asia's Largest Science and Technology festival and has surpassed 20 golden years of creating an unmatched aura of a science and technology spectacle year after year. Techfest 2016 saw a footfall of more than 160,000 students.

TWMUN, IIT Bombay is a three day conference and will be held during Techfest 2017-18 from 29-31st December 2017.
All students with a valid ID card of their high school or college can register for TWMUN, IIT Bombay. However, exceptional cases are sometimes made for recent graduates.
The dress code is traditionally western business attire for the entire duration of the conference. However, in line with the UN's conventions, delegates may wear the national costume of the country they are representing as long as this is not seized as an opportunity to dress less formally.
They will be uploaded to the committees page prior to the announcement of committee assignments in mid-october.
Delegates will spend the first session deciding and voting on which topic to discuss, and will debate that issue first. If that topic is resolved before the end of the conference, the second issue will be debated too, but this cannot be guaranteed. Delegates should prepare equally well for both topics.
The awards will be presented at the discretion of the chairs of each committee and will include 1 Best Delegate and 1 Honorable Mentions/High Commendations. 2 awards will be presented to the best and the second best chair respectively and 1 award to the best International Ambassador at the discretion of the Secretary General and the Organizing committee.

If you need assistance with your Visa application, please email us a scanned copy of your passport. Once your payment of delegate fees is complete, TWMUN, IIT Bombay will send you an invitation letter to the conference, which should then allow you to apply for a Visa. Thus, we recommend that you register to the conference and notify us that you require a Visa as early as possible.
The United Nations Security Council is one of the six principal organs and the primary decision making body of the United Nations. In effect since 1946, the UNSC undertakes matters of peacekeeping and security, rules out international sanctions and is responsible for new membership to the UN and amendments to the existing UN Charter. Founded in 1972 as an outcome of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment, the United Nations Environment Programme is the apex body within the United Nations responsible for aiding member nations in devising sound environmental policies for effective resource management. Some pertinent issues addressed by the UNEP include the issues of rampant climate change and imminent desertification in landlocked areas. It also addresses concerns regarding ecosystems - both marine and terrestrial.

Empowerment of women in all spheres of personal life and governance is the unwritten motto of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women, also called UN Women. The World Health Organisation is a specialised agency of the United Nations that is concerned with international public health. Issues related to the prevention of outbreak of epidemics, the control of the transmission of communicable diseases, regulation of medical drug use, nutrition and food security are dealt with at the WHO. Specialised cases involving the eradication of smallpox, transmission of HIV/AIDS, Ebola, malaria, Zika virus are also focussed upon at this agency.
