1.1 Introduction

Security is one for which no one fails to strive, be it something like financial security or anything as abstract as information security. With the advent of to be aware of the various techniques of ethical hacking necessitated to combat various cyber crimes. The workshop aims at providing the participants an appropriate idea of the diverse types of hacking that can help an ethical hacker to provide better information security. Some critical issues that would be handled in the workshop include Google Hacking, Scanning, Email Hacking, Session Hijacking, Linux Hacking and Windows Hacking.

2.1 Content Outline

  1. The aim of this workshop is to introduce participants with the basics of information security..
  2. The workshop would be divided into two days.
  3. The first day of the workshop would focus on scanning and scanning tools,email security,trojans and session hijacking.
  4. The second day of the workshop consists of PHP and SQL injection, sniffing, linux and windows security.

3.1 Eligibilty

Participants having a valid ID card of their respective educational institutions are eligible for the Information security.

3.2 Team Specifications

The exercises in this workshop can be done independently, so registration will be on an individual basis.

3.3 Pre Requisites

This is a basic level workshop and hence there are no pre requisites for it.

3.4 Short listing Criterion

Due to limitations on the number of people we can offer place at Techfest workshops, we follow a scrutinizing process. The participants will have to fill in a questionnaire based on which short listing shall be done.

  1. Name the file after the questions have been answered as ISxxxx.doc where ISxxxx is the team registration number. Attach the file and mail it to workshops[at]techfest[dot]org with your team registration number as the subject.
  2. You have to submit this questionnaire before 28th December 11:59 PM IST.

3.5 Payment Details

The cost of the workshop is Rs 1,500 per participant.

3.6 Certificate Criterion

All participants should be present in all the sessions. Failing this, no certificate shall be awarded to the participant.
