Nexus
After the splendid success story of Nexus last year, everyone had high expectations from it this year too. With a quantum leap in the number of centers compared to last year, Nexus once again proved that it is one very successful experiment. Nexus was conducted at 7 centers across the country namely Indore, Calicut, Jaipur, New Delhi, Pune, Surat & Mumbai and witnessed participation from more than 500 teams in all. Students from Chandigarh to Trivandrum and Ahmedabad to Kharagpur took part in Nexus making it a truly national event. Workshops were also held before the event at various centers to familiarize the students with the basics of robotics to guide students in making better machines. The basic reason behind conducting such an event was to spread the message of technology and provide a local platform for the students in the robotics world which was successfully achieved.
The top three teams of each leg received a certificate of excellence & cash prizes worth Rs. 10,000. All these teams also get direct entry to the finals in Vertigo: The National Robotics Challenge which shall be held during the main festival. All those who could not make it to the top positions needn’t be disheartened as these efforts will certainly help them climb a step closer towards Vertigo.
After Nexus, the focus now shifts to the main competition Vertigo. For those who could not take part in Nexus, it’s not too late yet. Also the teams, who have already participated in Nexus, need to put in that extra bit since the level of competition would be a notch higher than the local leg with the addition of the autonomous machine. Rack your brains, improvise your old machine, and put in all you’ve got as the main competition shall not be a cakewalk for anyone. With over two months still left for the main festival nothings is lost for the ones who haven’t started. Innovation, thinking out of the box and hard work is all that is required to build a competitive entry for the competition. Workshops will be held at various centers across the country to introduce the students to the basic fundamentals required for making an autonomous robot. So get started as the team with not only the best program and a quick machine but one which can hold their nerves shall finally emerge as the champion.
Team Techfest congratulates all the winners at Nexus and wishes the very best to all the participants for Vertigo: The National Robotics Challenge.
