What are international competitions?
The four competitions namely Micromouse, Pixel, Blitzkrieg and Full Throttle: Grand Prix; to be held in Techfest 2008 for which we are inviting and encouraging participants from outside India and shall provide travel reimbursement to all those clearing the elimination criteria are international competitions.
Is it necessary to clear the elimination criteria to participate?
It is not necessary to clear the elimination to participate. However, travel reimbursement shall be provided only to those teams who clear the elimination.
Is the invitation from IIT Bombay necessary to visit and participate in Techfest 2008?
No, but Techfest and IIT Bombay shall not be responsible for the stay of international participants in India visiting IIT Bombay without the invitation.
When do the participants get the invitation?
Everyone needs to completely fill the Personal Particular Form which is forwarded to the Ministry of External Affairs, India, for clearance. Participants shall be sent the invitation as soon as IIT Bombay receives the clearance. This takes around 6 weeks of time approximately and may vary significantly in some cases. Participants are thus requested to send the filled form as soon as they register.
Would I not be eligible for reimbursement if I travel by a ticket other than that mentioned in the confirmation mail?
Participants shall be reimbursed to an amount equal to that of the air ticket mentioned by us in the confirmation mail or the price of the ticket they have traveled with, whichever is less.
When do the participants get the reimbursement amount?
Students shall be given the reimbursed amount upon presenting the copy of the Invitation from IIT Bombay and the ticket they have used for traveling.
Are all team members necessarily supposed to come during the event?
At least one of the team members needs to visit Techfest for the competition. All team members are not required necessarily. Please note that reimbursement will only be provided for two team members per team.
