IIT Bombay – one of the premiere institutes of technology in India – is world renowned for its cutting edge research in the different vistas of knowledge. The faculty and students of IIT Bombay work incessantly for studying, searching, discovering and creating the best and rarest specimens of science and technology today. From earth sciences to biotechnology, from stochastic processes to electronics, from materials research to nanotechnology, the research at IIT Bombay unravels the mysteries of nature and defines what the future has in store for mankind. However, till the technology gets implemented to make a change in the lives of the people, the research cannot be said to have fulfilled its purpose. The nascent discovery needs to be developed and tweaked to reach the mass-scale, thus affecting the entire generation and distributing its benefits to all.

Techfest, in association with IRCC, IIT Bombay, takes such an initiative to facilitate Technology Transfer from these researchers to the industry.

TechConnect is the effort of Techfest 2009-10, in collaboration with Industrial Research and Consultancy Centre (IRCC), IIT Bombay to connect the researchers at IIT Bombay with the industries of the country to facilitate technology transfer and thus influence large scale implementation of research. TechConnect will be held during Techfest, and will play host to corporates from a multitude of industries to know about and absorb the research work of the faculty of IIT Bombay.
