With an aim to empower girls to become leaders of technology, innovators in STEM and build their own future through exposure to computer science and technology, Techfest presents the initiative IAmPower to support the young girls and women of India by involving them in STEM.

Our initiative aims to redress an under-representation of women in employment and career progression in Science Tech Engineering and Maths discipline by attracting, retaining and advancing the women who are critical for the diverse and inclusive workplace, culminating in acceleration of global innovation.

Supporting women STEM students and researchers is an essential part of Techfest’s initiative, to out-innovate, out-educate, and out-build the rest of the world; it is also important to women themselves. Women in STEM jobs earn 33 percent more than those in non-STEM occupations and experience a smaller wage gap relative to men. And STEM careers offer women the opportunity to engage in some of the most exciting realms of discovery and technological innovation. Increasing opportunities for women in these fields is an important step towards realizing greater economic success and equality for women across the world.

Python Bootcamps

We will be conducting pan-India free coding workshop for girls to bring more women into the world of technology and increase the diversity in the STEM community.

This workshop aims to igniting a spark in the girls of India so they can pursue a career in STEM which has became an important necessity in today’s world.

This one day workshop aims to give an insight into basic coding skills using Python. The session is aimed at beginners, thus empowering them to learn the language of the future.

The sole motto of Ideate is to discover the best ideas and innovations from across the nation that would reform and revolutionize the present day scenario in India. One single idea has the potential to become the harbinger of change and a crusader for a cause in the coming days.

Rural women play a key role in supporting their households and communities in achieving food and nutrition security, generating income, and improving rural livelihoods and overall well-being. Yet, every day, around the world, rural women and girls face persistent structural constraints that prevent them from fully enjoying their human rights and hamper their efforts to improve their lives.

Techfest, IIT Bombay presents the ideate, ‘Saksham’ under the ‘IAmPower’ initiative to ignite the change in the society. The initiative is an effort to mobilize the collective strengths of people from various streams and integrate it with information technology to provide benefits to the women of rural community.

As the famous quote says, “ Self reliance is only road to true freedom.” The initiative of bringing a change has to be taken by the women itself displaying the determination and passion. To integrate this important aspect, we are making it mandatory to have at least one girl member in your team.

Women in STEM-Summit

The Women in STEM summit gathers both men and women working in STEM industries for two days of the panel discussion on the role of women in this rapidly evolving and dynamic industry and the importance of IoT in the modern world. Our goal is to highlight female role models in the industry, encourage knowledge exchange and networking and the role of Internet of Things in solving real life problems. The panel discussions will be followed by a workshop with hands-on experience on the various IoT applications. It will be an industrial standard workshop requiring just a basic knowledge of coding. The summit ends with a one-day hackathon aimed at solving women problems using IoT.
