In today’s world, where global warming and sustainable development are the buzzwords it is necessary to use our knowledge to create a better environment for the future generations. The depletion of fossil fuels combined with the increasing problems of nuclear waste disposal has left us with only one choice: the almighty sun. With this competition we aim to create a portable solar concentrator combined with a heat exchanger which can be of great use in cottage industries and personal homes.

Prizes worth INR 30,000 to be won

1.Problem Statement

Construct an apparatus which uses only solar energy (possibly a solar concentrator, with a line focus or a point focus design) and performs the following tasks:

1. Heats flowing air of specific flow rate at atmospheric pressure to maximum possible temperature.

2. Heats flowing water to deliver maximum possible heat duty.
